MRS. W. H. HICKS DIES OF PNEUMONIA

Mrs. Jewell Marie Hicks, wife of W. H. Hicks, 1110 West Main street, a resident of this city seven years, died Thursday morning at 6:30 at the Evangelical Deaconess hospital where she had been a patient for ten days. The cause of death was pneumonia. Mrs. Hicks was born Nov. 22, 1896, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Andrew T. and Ella Noblett Jones. She grew to womanhood and was educated in that city and was married there, Sept. 25, 1923, to William H. Hicks. They continued to live there until 1927 and then made their home in a number of places due to Mr. Hick's connection with the S. S. Kresge company. They came to Marshalltown in 1936. They were the parents of one child, Jane Marie, at home. Besides Mr. Hicks and her daughter, she is survived by her mother who lives in Springfield, Mo., three brothers and four sisters, Lyle Jones, Glenn Jones, Elwin Jones and Mrs. Basil Long, all of Springfield, Mo., Mrs. Frank O'Neil of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. W. R. Nelson of McAlister, Okla., and Mrs. Ellen Arnold of Washington, D.C. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the First Baptist church of this city and the women's organization of that church. Prayer services will be held at the Pursel funeral home Friday afternoon at 2:30 in charge of Dr. Pieter Smit, after which the body will be taken to Springfield, Mo. Services wil be held there Sunday afternoon and burial will be in the Springfield cemetery.
