FUNERAL PLANNED WEDNESDAY FOR LISCOMB PIONEER

Liscomb---(Special)---Services for J. C. Beeman, 77, life-long resident of Liscomb, who died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday at his home east of town, will be held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Liscomb Christian church. The body is at the Johnston funeral home in Conrad and will be brought to the church before noon on the day of the funeral. Burial will be in the Liscomb cemetery. Mr. Beeman had been in failing health for some time, but uremic poisoning was the immediate cause of death. BORN IN 1871 Mr. Beeman was born Oct. 14, 1871, on the farm on the Marshall-Grundy county line where his parents, James and Jane Weld Beeman settled when they came from Ohio by covered wagon in 1854. He spent his entire life on this farm with the exception of a few months last winter, when he and his wife lived in a trailer house at the home of their son, Glenn Beeman of Indianola. He was the last member of the pioneer family of three children. A brother, Collin, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Ingham, died some years ago. MARRIED IN 1899 On Oct. 11, 1899, Mr. Beeman married Lillie Rolfe of Waterloo, and their four sons were born and grew to manhood on the pioneer homestead. The widow and two sons, Glenn of Indianola and John of Nevada, survive. There are four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two sons, Ivan and Floyd, are dead. Mr. Beeman took an active part in community affairs as long as his health permitted. He served many years as director of Felix No. 3 rural school, which he and his sons attended. He was a life deacon in the Liscomb Christian church and worked in the Sunday school and other organizations of the church.
