SERVICES FOR J. D. WALTEMEYER ARE HELD SUNDAY AT MELBOURNE

Melbourne---(Special)---Services for J. D. Waltemeyer, who died Thursday at Evangelical Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Methodist church in charge of Rev. F. J. Robins. Burial was in Melbourne cemetery. Bearers were nephews of Mr. Waltemeyer, Harold, Kenneth, Charles, Herbert, Virgil and Clair Waltemeyer. Mr. Waltemeyer was born Feb. 2, 1880, south of Melbourne, the son of Jacob and Lucinda Waltemeyer. He was one of a family of 11 children. He was married in 1898 to Dora Betz and they resided near Melbourne. Their only child, a son, Cecil, died at the age of 15 and Mrs. Waltemeyer died in August of this year. Survivors include three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Alice Flora, Mrs. Edna Bennett, Joseph and Ray Waltemeyer of Marshalltown; Mrs. Charles Clark of Conrad and George Waltemeyer of Santa Ana, Calif. Mr. Waltemeyer was recognized as one of the leading Duroc Jersey hog breeders in the country and was widely known as a judge at the state fair and other exhibitions until his retirement a few years ago. He had been in failing health for several years and recently underwent a major operation.
