LISCOMB WOMAN KNOWN FOR FAIR WINNINGS DIES

Liscomb---(Special)---Mrs. Jacob Galloway, widely known Liscomb farm woman and a member of the oldest pioneer family in the community, died Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. at her home, two miles west of Liscomb. She had been in failing health for the past year but was confined to her home for only the past five weeks. Death was due to carcinoma. The body was removed to the Estel funeral home in Marshalltown where it will remain until the funeral which is to be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Liscomb Christian church. Rev. George W. Biersborn will be in charge of the services and Rev. J. Willard Kerley, pastor, will assist him. Burial will be in the family lot in the Liscomb cemetery. BORN AT LISCOMB Mrs. Galloway was born Jan. 4, 1880 at Liscomb, the eldest daughter of Elias and Eliza Moore Bueghly and one of six children, two of whom survive her. She was raised near Liscomb and attended school there. On March 16, 1898, she was married to Jacob B. Galloway, and the couple lived on the Bueghly farm, one mile west of Liscomb a number of years and south of town before moving to the Smith farm, one mile east of Conrad where they resided for 18 years. Mr. and Mrs. Galloway returned to the Liscomb community in 1936 when they moved to the Elias Bueghly farm west of the river. Mrs. Galloway is survived by her widower and four sons, Harold Galloway of Liscomb, Ralph of Grundy Center, Clyde of Lamoille and Wilbur Galloway at home. She has a brother, Clinton E. Bueghly of Des Moines and a sister, Mrs. Effie Barber who is spending the winter in Omaha, Neb. FREQUENT PRIZE WINNER Prominent in all civic activities, Mrs. Galloway had also received recognition for excellence in several types of handicraft work and cooking. She won prizes at both county and state fairs on her cakes, candies, bread and rolls, needlecraft work, china painting and flowers she has raised. At the time of her death she was president of the Rhoda Green Helping Hand class and a member of the Liscomb Christian church and all of its organizations. She was a member of the Liscomb Woman's club and captain of the degree team of the Grumme Rebekah lodge at Liscomb. While living on the Smith farm, Mrs. Galloway belonged to the Bearpan Rebekah lodge and was active in the Beaman Methodist church.
