MRS. THOMPSON IS DEAD AT 73; RITES TUESDAY

Services for Mrs. Edna Thompson, 73, of LeGrand township, who died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday at Evangelical Deaconess hospital, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pursel funeral home. Rev. Orval E. Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Timber Creek cemetery. Mrs. Thompson had been ill for two years and in the hospital since Nov. 22. Death was of carcinoma. BORN IN 1877 She was born March 12, 1877, in Audubon county, the daughter of Samuel E. and Saluda Hull. When she was nine years old, the family moved to LeGrand township. On March 19, 1896, she was married to Walter J. Thompson who died in 1932. They lived in Timber Creek township for a time before moving to the present home, six miles southeast of Marshalltown. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Ferguson Christian church. SURVIVORS ARE LISTED Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Lester Fletcher, Newton, Bertha Thompson on the home place, and Mrs. Harry Essen, Mrs. Eather Runner and Mrs. Merle Meeker, all of Marshalltown; five sons, William and Rufus on the home place, Joshua of south of Marshalltown, and Earnest and Russell of Newton; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Three children died in infancy. Mrs. Thompson was the last of her family.
