ALBION---(Special)---Frank D. Dennis, Albion's oldest resident, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the home where he had lived 65 years. He would have been 92 Friday. He suffered a stroke Dec. 26 and had been bedfast since then. Mr. Dennis was mayor of Albion and member of the school board for some time and justice of the peace for many years. He was secretary of the Albion Cemetery Association more than 40 years. He was a member of the Albion Methodist Church and for many years a member of its official board. In his earlier years he sang in a male quartet which was widely known throughout the county. FRANK DEAN Dennis was born north of Albion Feb. 24, 1864, a son of Isaac and Lurency Dean Dennis. He attended Albion Seminary and Drake University. He was believed to be the oldest graduate in point of years of Drake University, having graduated from its law department in 1885. Following graduation, he taught a law class in the seminary. On April 25, 1888, he married Lou A. Brown of Albion, and the couple operated a general store for many years. She died Nov. 8, 1929. He was married to Mrs. May Devine Crouse April 30, 1934, and she survives. ALSO SURVIVING are a daughter, Mrs. Rheba Neff, Albion; two sons, Wendell M. Dennis, New York City, and Arthur T., Sioux Falls, S.D.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist Church in charge of the Rev. Robert Johnson assisted by the Rev. C. W. Cleveland. Burial will be in Albion Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of Avey Funeral Home, Marshalltown. Friends may call until 11 a.m. Tuesday.
