Mrs. Elda May Smith, died at her home, 101 South Twelfth street, at 10:35 Sunday morning after an illness of two years. She had been bedfast for the past year. She had been an invalid her entire life. She was born Elda May Woolston, June 26, 1862, at Edenville, now Rhodes, a daughter of Abraham and Abi Woolston, early residents of Marshall county. She was married to Lebbeus P. Smith in June, 1897, at State Center. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Smith moved to this city which had since been the family residence. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Hope Smith at home and Mrs. Albert Ruopp of Marshalltown; one sister, Miss Ethel Woolston of this city; two brothers, Stanley Woolston of State Center and Homer Woolston of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three grandsons, Rodney, Jimmy and Donald Ruopp. Mr. Smith died June 20, 1919. Two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death, Francis in infancy, Leonard on Dec. 22, 1936, at Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Edmond Bond in 1918 at Santa Cruz, Calif. Mrs Smith attended the Methodist Church in her early life. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Estel funeral home preceded by a private prayer service at the home at 12:30. Both services will be in charge of Rev. P. G. Dennis. Burial will be in Riverside. The body was removed from the Estel funeral home to the family home, 101 South Twelfth street, Monday afternoon.
