JAMES IRONS, LAUREL, DIES; ILL SEVEN YEARS

James M. Irons Sr., 74, of Laurel died in his home Tuesday afternoon. He had been in failing health for many years and bedfast for the last seven years. Born Sept. 12, 1882 at Welton, he was the son of Edward and Susie Oberholser Irons. He grew up in the Welton and DeWitt communities. ON SEPT. 23, 1913 at DeWitt, he was married to Elizabeth Wallace. The couple lived in that community until 1916, then moved to Laurel where he had since resided. Mr. Irons was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Gilman and a member of the Laurel Methodist Church. Prior to his retirement due to ill health, he was manager of the Home Lumber Co. Preceding him in death were a sister and three brothers. SURVIVING ARE his widow, two sons and two daughters, James M. Jr. of Clarence, Paul of Des Moines, Mrs. Merle McMahon of Hampton and Mrs. Mildred Swift, Laurel. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, two brothers, and one sister, H. E. Irons and Mrs. Dilman Oberholser both of Clarence and Omer Irons, Welton. Services will be held from the Laurel Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. Friday in charge of the Rev. E. E. Clements and the Rev. Nelson Murdock. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home until 9:30 a.m. Friday.
