OLE STANGELAND, FARMER AND BANKER, DIES
Former Supervisor and President of Commercial State Bank Here

Ole C. Stangeland, prominent farmer of the Stavanger neighborhood and president of the Commercial State Bank of Marshalltown died at the Deaconess hospital at 9 a.m. Monday after an illness of two weeks. He entered the Deaconess Saturday night, but previously had been at the Abbott hospital at Oskaloosa. The cause of death was acute myocardial failure. BORN IN COUNTY Born Sept. 12, 1866, in the Stavanger neighborhood, near Dunbar, he spent his entire life in LeGrand township. He served as Marshall county supervisor from 1925 to 1934, several times as chairman of the board, and was president of the old Iowa Savings bank, forerunner of the Commercial State. He married Ingene Olson May 10, 1916, in the Stavanger neighborhood. Surviving are the widow and three sons, Tilman I., Andrew G. and Clarence B. Stangeland, all at home. He was the last member of his immediate family, an only brother, Andrew M. Stangeland, died at Dillon in 1904. Mr. Stangeland was a member of the Stavanger meeting, serving as elder and clerk of the monthly meetings. RITES WEDNESDAY The body is at the Estel funeral home which will be open to friends Tuesday evening. The body will be taken to the family home, three-quarters of a mile north and one half mile west of Dunbar, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with later services at the Stavanger meeting house at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Stavanger cemetery.
