C. A. WEEKS, COUNTY PIONEER, DIES AT AMES

C. A. Weeks, 86, of Ames, father of Mrs. George Leise of Liscomb and a former pioneer resident of Marshall County, died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday as his home, where he had been cared for by this daughter thru an extended illness. FUNERAL THURSDAY Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the home at 435 Welch avenue in Ames, and burial will be on the family lot in the Rhodes cemetery. A short graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Charles Asa Weeks was born June 13, 1860, at Piermont, N. H., the youngest child of Brainerd and Minerva Weeks. When he was 5 years old the family came to Iowa and bought a farm south of Rhodes. On Feb. 3, 1883 Mr. Weeks married Emma Frances Love of Rhodes and they moved to western Kansas where they farmed for five years. They returned to Rhodes in 1888, and Mr. Weeks worked in the creamery for 10 years. The next 32 years were spent on farms in Marshall county, near Rhodes, in Timber Creek township, east of Liscomb, and near State Center. In 1920 Mr. Weeks retired from active farming, and the family moved to Ames where Mrs. Weeks died May 3, 1923. LAST OF FAMILY Mr. Weeks was the last survivor of a family of five children, John and Will, and Mae Weeks, and Mrs. Esther Webster. He was the father of six children, two of whom died in infancy. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. G. S. Leise of Liscomb, Mrs. E. W. Blumenschein, and Mae and Helen Weeks of Ames. There are four grandchildren: Robert Blumenschein of Omaha, Neb., Dr. John Charles Blumenschein of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Frances Leise Peck of Beckley, W. Va., and Cpl. Stanley Leise of Camp Polk, La.
