Former teacher Buried at Belmond

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, November 13, in Belmond for Ruth Tiara Hardwick, a former teacher in the Baxter School, who died Thursday, November 11, in Belmond.

Mrs. Hardwick attended Ellsworth and Coe Colleges and taught before her marriage may 4, 1929, to Stephen R. Hardwick.

After his death in 1949 she resumed her teaching career and earned her BA degree and her master’s degree from Drake.

She taught in Baxter, Boone, Newton and Marshalltown, retiring in June, 1970.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Ruthann and Stephen Roy Hardwick of Marshalltown; a daughter, Mrs. H. T. Dohrman of Cedar Falls; a son George at home and a brother, Joseph Tiara of Boston, Massachusetts.
