WARREN JAMES ROGERS

Warren J. Rogers, 65, of 7253 Hampshire Dr. NE. died Monday March 24, 2008 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha of cancer. Services at 2:00 PM on Thursday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Rev. Perry Fruhling will officiate. Private family entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Wed. The casket will be closed at the service on Thursday. Survivors are his wife, Ruth, son Andy Jessica Rogers of Seattle, WA, daughter Mindy Bob Marold of Ankeny, and son Tony Michelle Rogers of Waukee; 7 grandchildren, Calvin, Dakota, Sam, Max, Grady, C.J., and Cooper. Also surviving are his mother, Garnet Rogers of Marshalltown, sister Jan Hal Walter of West Des Moines, sister-in-law Betty Marv Katzer of Nevada, IA, and their families. He was preceded in death by his father, Cal, and Esther and Ralph Coffin his mother-in-law and father-in-law. Warren was born in Marshalltown, IA and married his high school sweetheart, Ruth in 1963. He graduated from Marshalltown High School, University of Northern Iowa, and University of Iowa Graduate School in Physical Therapy. He began his career in Kalamazoo, MI, then spent 38 years at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. He held a variety of positions at Mercy, beginning as Head of the Physical Therapy Department and ending his career as a Service Line Administrator. Warren loved the caring attitude of Mercy, and all the friendships of fellow employees, and especially the Sisters of Mercy. Warren loved his family, golf, friends, vacations in Colorado, golfing with his buddies, the Florida beach, attending the Masters twice, sitting on the deck enjoying the yard, golf, Iowa Hawkeye Sports, attending the US Open, woodworking, and playing golf at Pebble Beach with Andy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, or Hospice of Mercy, 315 18th Avenue, Hiawatha, IA 52233; St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 8300 C Avenue NE, Marion, IA 52302, or the donor's choice.
