REBA GAIL SCHUCK CANNON

Schuck Cannon, Reba G., 83, of Tamarac, FL passed away on May 10, 2009. Born in Marshalltown, IA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Lulu (Crawford) Flathers. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College with a degree in Education. In 1946, she married George E. Schuck, who died in 1984 after 38 years of marriage. In 1995, she married her high school sweetheart, Rhett Cannon, after reconnecting with him after their 50th high school reunion. Rhett later died in 1999. She worked at LaGasse' Pool Construction in Fort Lauderdale as a bookkeeper for 29 years while raising two daughters, Beth Parris of Chapin, SC and Mary Ellen Schuck of Coconut Creek, FL. She lived her entire adult life as a paraplegic after contracting polio at the age of 26. She was a strong, independent woman who never allowed her disability to stop her from anything. In addition to her two daughters, she is survived by three grandchildren, Robin Lamerson, Kevin Douglas and Leslie Lennox, and two great-grandchildren, Morgan Lamerson and Grace Lamerson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 3:00 p.m., Kraeer Funeral Home, 1 North State Rd 7, Margate, FL 33063. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her favorite charity, www.heifer.org.
