Mrs. A. B. Shine, a former Brooklyn resident and the mother of Mrs. Harold Johnston, died Monday morning at Marshalltown, following an illness of several weeks. Her death had not been unexpected as her condition had been critical for some time.

The following is taken from the Marshalltown Times-Republican:

Mrs. Flora Shine, wife of A. B. Shine, living one mile south of this city, died at her home at 9:30 this forenoon. Death was caused by pernicious anemia, from which she had suffered for three years. Mr. and Mrs. Shine formerly lived near Liscomb where they are best known.

Mrs. Shine was born Flora Given at Brooklyn, Iowa, June 29, 1872, and was married there to Mr. Shine in 1890. In 1910 the family moved to this county from Grinnell, and have lived here since.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. C. D. Smith, of Des Moines, and Mrs. H. F. Johnston, of Brooklyn, and one son, R. O. Shine, of Belle Plaine. One sister, Mrs. George Mix, lives in Detroit, Mich.

Mrs. Shine was a member of the Congregational Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. The funeral will be held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. Burial will be in Riverside.
