MRS. JENNIE GRIGGS DIES LATE MONDAY

Mrs. Jennie Griggs, a resident of Marshall county most of her life, died Monday afternoon at her home, 501 North First street. She had been in failing health three months and had been confined to her bed for the past eight weeks. Death was due to gall bladder trouble. She was born Jennie Hauser, Jan. 20, 1861, at Liscomb, a daughter of Martha and George Hauser. Her marriage to Ephraim Griggs took place Feb. 2, 1888. A son, Floyd, died in action in France in 1918 and a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Bivens, survives. A step-daughter, Mrs. M. C. Hilsabeck of Liscomb, two stepsons, Leonard and Burt Griggs of Marshalltown, and a brother, Foster Hauser, of Marshfield, Mo., also survive. A sister, Celestia Dawson, died in Oklahoma about 37 years ago. Mr. Griggs died in 1917 at Albion. Mrs. Griggs was a member of the Methodist church of Albion. With the exception of three years spent in Nebraska, she had lived in this county all of her life. For the past 16 years she had been a resident of Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Estel funeral home. Dr. C. Clifford Bacon will be in charge. Burial will be at the Bethel Grove cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home until the hour of service.
