ARDEN J. OLSON, 80

Arden J. Olson, 80, of 1224 Marshall Drive, died Tuesday, April 21 in an automobile accident on Highway 30 west of Marshalltown. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home with Rev. Cynthia Moore of the Bethel Grove Church officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Estel-Perrin-Avey after 4 p.m. Friday, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Arden J. Olson Memorial Fund. He was born on Aug. 25, 1917 in Newhall to Art and Anna Munson Olson. He received his education in the Newhall schools, graduating from Newhall High School in 1935. He married Marion Russell on Oct 15, 1936 in Benton County and they moved to the Marshalltown area in 1941. He farmed on the David Wine farm west of town from 1941 to 1947, when it was purchased by Cooper Enterprises and he was employed by them until retiring in 1986. Survivors include his wife, Marion; a daughter, Sharon (Mrs. Leon) Sommerlot of Albion; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clifford in 1970.
