BESSIE M. GRAMMER, 99

Bessie M. Grammer, 99, of Marshalltown and the Bethel Grove area, most recently a resident of the Carroll Health Center in Carroll, died there Tuesday, March 17. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cynthia Moore of the Bethel Grove Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be directed to the Bethel Grove Church in her memory. She was born on May 26, 1898 in Audubon County to William (Billy) and Nora Elsberry Sommerlot She was raised on the Sommerlot family farm three miles east of Bethel Grove and received her education in the Marshall County schools northeast of Albion. She married David Clarence Grammer on June 25, 1925 in Liscomb. They had farmed near Bethel Grove all of their married lives. Mr. Grammer preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1962. On Aug. 8, 1970 she married Chancy Elvin Grammer at Bethel Grove. Mr. Grammer preceded her in death on July 5, 1986 in Marshalltown. She was a member of the Bethel Grove Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Colleen (Mrs. Eugene "Bud") Wagner of Carroll and Elma Louise (Mrs. George V.) Endicot of Poudre Canyon, Colo.; two step-sons, Chancey Marion Grammer of Albany, Ore. and James Robert of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Nyce of Fullerton, Calif. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; a son, Vernon Thomas Grammer in 1977; and two brothers, Arthur and Merle Sommerlot.

CARROLL ---Funeral services for Bessie M. Grammer, 99, of Marshalltown and the Bethel Grove area, most recently a resident of the Carroll Health Center in Carroll, who died Tuesday, March 17, were held Saturday at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cynthia Moore of the Bethel Grove Church officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Grove Cemetery. Casketbearers were Wilfred Sommerlot, Leon Sommerlot, Mike Baker, Dale Sommerlot, Dick Rainsbarger and Mike Wagner. The Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
