DOROTHY ARNEY, 88

Dorothy Arney, 88, 1211 W. State St., and most recently of Grandview Heights Care Center, died early Saturday at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Estel-Perrin-Avey Chapel with the Rev. Jennifer Daniel of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Grove Cemetery, between Liscomb and Albion. Friends may call at Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Monday. A memorial fund has been established in her name toward Iowa River Hospice and Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. She was born Dec. 22, 1907, at Grinnell to George and Myrtle Kepcke Williams. She received education around Grinnell and later attended two years of college. On March 30, 1931, she married Joseph Arney in Grinnell. They farmed several years in the Albion area. She worked as a secretary for a professor at Grinnell College and at Lennox Industries and R. H. Donneley Co., Nevada She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge, Grinnell Eastern Star, Circle Ruth of the First United Methodist Church, Tomorrow Club and American Legion Auxiliary. For 20 years, she volunteered and served as treasurer for the MMSC Gift Shop. Survivors include two sons, Frank Arney, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Roger Arney, Duluth, Minn.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Williams, Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974; a sister, Mildred Martens; her parents; and a stepson, Allen Arney.

Services for Dorothy Arney, 88, 1211 W. State St., and most recently of Grandview Heights Care Center, who died Saturday, May 17 at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center, were held Tuesday, May 20 at Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home with he Rev. Jennifer Daniel of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment services of the urn will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bethel Grove Cemetery. A group representing the Embers Retirement Community was in attendance.
