ELDORA --- Marion Olson, 84, of the Eldora Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Marshalltown, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 17, at the ENRC after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Her death came peacefully at 3 p.m. with family at her side. Graveside memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bethel Grove Cemetery near Liscomb, with the Rev. Cynthia Moore officiating. There will be no visitation. Friends near or far may leave condolences at www.mem.com (Making Everlasting Memories). The Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home has been entrusted with her cremation and final arrangements. Born Marion Russell on Aug. 1, 1918, near Fairfax, Iowa, she was one of nine children born to John and Emily (Zabokrtsky) Russell Sr. She received her education in the area of her birth and graduated from Walford, Iowa, high school in 1935. On Oct. 15, 1936, she was united in marriage to Arden Olson in Benton County, Iowa. They lived at Norway, Blairstown before moving to Marshalltown to farm in 1941. They have resided here ever since, where she was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling. Left to mourn her loss are her daughter Sharon (Leon) Sommerlot of Marshalltown; two grandsons, Mike and Mark Sommerlot and their families, all of Marshalltown, her sisters, Marvel Donahue of Cedar Rapids and Anna Prohaska of Solon; a brother William Russell of Traer; and numerous nieces and nephews. In death she has rejoined her husband Arden, who died in 1998; her parents; four brothers and one sister, Dale, Jack Jr., Earl and Donald Russell and Vera Sanders.
