Roger Charles Edel died January 18, 2011 at the Iowa Veterans Home, following a long illness.

Born August 31, 1927 at Haverhill IA - 3rd of 8 children
Parents: John & Augusta (Knoll) Edel

Graduated from St. Mary's High School, Marshalltown
Served in U.S. Navy at the end of World War II, stationed in Italy.
Briefly attended St. Thomas College in St. Paul MN

Married Rita Quinn September 8, 1947 in Marshalltown
Worked for father-in-law, Anthony Quinn, eventually owning and operating Quinn Radiator for 30 years, then opened Quinn Lawn & Leisure. After retirement he managed Knights of Columbus Hall for several years.

Fifty-year member of the Forth Degree of the Knights of Columbus and served as the Grand Knight
Dedicated member of St. Mary's and St. Henry's parishes and during the 5 years Lenihan High School was in operation he was an active booster and involved parent.

Surviving: wife of 63 years, Rita, and 8 children:

plus 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren

Jeanette (Keith) Loney of Marshalltown

Preceded in death by parents and four brothers.

Burial in Riverside Cemetery Mausoleum niche, Marshalltown
