Walter Judge, 98, Marshalltown, died January 15, 2011 at Southridge Nursing & Rehab Center, Marshalltown while in care of Care Initiatives Hospice.

Born October 9, 1912 in Indian Township, Tama County IA.
Parents: Samuel S. & Elva (Richards) Judge.
Attended Whippoorwill Country School.

Married Mary M. Jordan September 22, 1940 at Carlton Brethren Church, rural Garwin.

He farmed, then worked at Fisher Governor until retirement, then part-time groundskeeper at Elmwood Country Club.

Had a quiet kindness, always willing to help others. Enjoyed playing violin, yard work, woodworking, dancing and all kinds of music. Often told stories of his youth, including riding pony to school, riding bobsled to visit neighbors and family in wintertime, and farming with teams of horses.

Surviving: daughters Barbara L. Long of Waukee, Nancy (Denny) Lanning of Melbourne, and Sherry Eggers of Des Moines; grandchildren Jeffrey T. (Annette) Lanning, Jerry D. (Laure) Lanning, Christine Long, Michael (Anne) Long and Cindy (Kevin) Partlow; and great grandchildren Julie, Nick, and Megan Lanning, Candice, Charles and Melanie Long, Jack, Emily & Travis Partlow. Also two brothers, Richard of Bickford Cottage in Marshalltown and Virgil of rural Garwin; sister Bertha DeFrance in Davenport.

Preceded in death by: parents, wife Mary, son Robert W. Judge, sister Gertrude Kerr, and brothers Lawrence, Lewis & Henry.
