CLAUDE EVERSIT DIES SATURDAY FOLLOWING STROKE

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Avey Funeral Home for J. Claude Everist, 69, who died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday following a stroke at his home, 305 E. Linn St. Mr. Everist had been employed by the county for 15 years until his retirement about three years ago. HE WAS born April 6, 1894, in Albion, son of Jess and Minnie Osborn Everist and lived there until coming to Marshalltown about 17 years ago. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Harry Powers Post of the Liscomb American Legion and Marshall County Barracks No. 1104. Surviving are the widow, the former Maude Hart whom he married Sept. 18, 1919, one daughter, Mrs. Glen Small, and a sister, Mrs. Bernie (Mary) Mishler, both of Marshalltown; a brother, Frank Everist of Williamsburg and three grandchildren. His parents, two sisters and a brother preceded him in death. MR. EVERIST was a member of Damascus Lodge No. 266, AF & AM at Albion, Liscomb IOOF No. 242 and the Modern Woodman of America. The Rev. L. T. Proctor will be in charge of the service and Masonic and military honors will be given at the grave in Bethel Grove Cemetery.
