Mrs. Bellus, 78, Dies in Daughter’s Home

Mrs. Ardelia Bellus, 78, died at 10:40 a. m. Wednesday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. F. Elsberry, seven miles south of Marshalltown. She had been ill during the past three monts and had been in failing health for several years.
The body was removed to the Estel Funeral Home pending completion of arrangements for the services.

Funeral of Mrs. Bellus to be Held Friday

Funeral service for Mrs. Ardelia E. Bellus, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. F. Elsberry, south of Marshalltown, Wednesday morning, will be held at 2:00 o’clock Friday afternoon at the First Evangelical Church in charge of the pastor, Rev. L. B. Russell, and Rev. C. G. Zeigler, pastor of the Laurel Evangelical Church. Burial will be in Timber Creek Cemetery. The body will remain at the Estel Funeral Home until Friday noon.
Mrs. Bellus was born August 22, 1865, in Timber Creek Township five miles south of Marshalltown, a daughter of William H. and Matilda Speas Hilsabeck. Mrs. Bellus was the youngest child of a family of 12 children, seven brothers and four sisters having preceded her in death.
On April 17, 1883, she was married to Charles E. Bellus in Marshalltown. Her entire life had been lived in Marshall County. Since 1899 her home had been at 101 East South Street, Marshalltown.
Surviving are, one son and three daughters, Earl Bellus, Mrs. Elsberry and Mrs. R. D. Groff, all of Timber Creek Township and Mrs. A. M. Martin of Nampa, Idaho. Nineteen grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren also survive, four of her grandsons serving the armed forces. Mr. Bellus died December 12, 1897. Two sons preceded her in death.
She was a member of the First Evangelical Church.
