Cresbard Beacon, Cresbard, South Dakota, Saturday, January 16, 1943

Elcannah Hieronymous Hilsabeck, son of William and Rebecca Hilsabeck was born October 3, 1862 at Marshalltown, Iowa and passed away at his home in Cresbard, South Dakota, January 14, 1943 at the age of 80 years, 3 months, 11 days. He was one of 11 children, all of whom have preceded him in death except for Mrs. Bellus of Marshalltown, Iowa and Mrs. Matilda Turner of Albion, Illinois.
He was married to Lillian Campbell, January 8, 1890 at Marshalltown. Seven children were born to this union, 3 daughters having preceded him in death. Left to mourn his passing are his wife and children; Mrs. Hazel Johnson, Ray Hilsabeck, of Cresbard, Mrs. Ruth Johnson of Ellensburg, Washington, Max Hilsabeck of Crocker, South Dakota and 8 grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Hilsabeck moved with their family to a farm near Redfield, South Dakota in the year 1910. Residing there until they came to Cresbard in 1934. They have made their home here since.
