John Hilsabeck Passes

Well-Known Resident of Timber Creek Township Dies.

John Hilsabeck well-known resident of Timber Creek Township died at 6:00 o’clock Wednesday evening at the home of his son J. C. Hilsabeck, of Ferguson. He had been ill for two weeks of pneumonia.
John Wesley Hilsabeck was born January 28, 1850, in Owen County, Indiana, and he came with his parents to Marshall County in 1852, settling in Timber Creek Township, which has been his home the major part of his life. He was married to Miss Clara Garrett in Marshalltown, October 15, 1880 and moved to a farm south of this city where Mrs. Hilsabeck died in 1893. Mr. Hilsabeck continued on the farm until 1910 when he sold it and retired, making his home with his children.
He is survived by four children, Mrs. Andrew Harbin, Albion; Mrs. Earl Peterson, Bonilla, South Dakota; Howard Hilsabeck, Pine River, Minnesota; and J. C. Hilsabeck, Ferguson. Another daughter Mrs. Ralph Dague, of Pine River preceded him in death. Three brothers and three sisters also survive. They are Mrs. T. J. Elsberry and Mrs. C. E. Bellus, both of this city; Mrs. M. J. Turner, Albion; J. E. Hilsabeck, Ferguson; E. H. Hilsabeck Redfield, South Dakota and W. F. Hilsabeck, Lamoille.
The funeral will be held from the Christian Church at Ferguson at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon in charge of Rev. E. C. Gedding. Burial will be in Timber Creek Cemetery.
