DIES OF APOPLEXY
----------
Theodore Furland, Conrad Resident, Stricken Suddenly

Theodore Furland, of near Conrad, formerly a resident of the Prairieville neighborhood north of this city, died suddenly at 11 o'clock Tuesday night, while on his way home from Gladbrook, where he had gone with members of his family and neighbors for a picnic. Death was caused by apoplexy. Mr. Furland had not been in good health in recent weeks but seemed well and in good spirits Tuesday and enjoyed the neighborhood gathering at the park east of Gladbrook. On the way home he was stricken and those in the car with him were unable to arouse him from an apparent stupor. The trip to Gladbrook was hurried and doctors were called. Two physicians accompanied the family on the way but Mr. Furland died before the home was reached. Mr. Furland was born at Creston, Ill., March 3, 1874. He came to Marshall county sixteen years ago and has been farming in this and Grundy counties ever since. He married Miss Hetta Hauser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hauser, of Liscomb township, June 20, 1908, who survives with three children, Robert, Paul and Nellie. A brother, J. E. Furland, of Mount Vernon, S. D., and three sisters, Mrs. O. E. Grover, Creston, Ill.; Mrs. John Nisbett, Moscow, Idaho, and Mrs. Frank Buchanan, North Powder, Ore., also survive. Mr. Furland was a member of the Church of Christ at Bethel Grove. Arrangements for the funeral will not be made until relatives at a distance are heard from.
