WILLARD HAUSER DEAD
----------
Well-Known Young Farmer of Bethel Grove Neighborhood Dies of Injuries --- Back Broken March 6, When Struck by Falling Tree --- Survived by Wife and Seven Children

Willard Hauser, aged 44, a well-known farmer of the Bethel Grove neighborhood, died at 3:20 this morning at his home, two and a half miles northwest of Albion, as the result of injuries received March 6, when he was struck by the branches of a falling tree. Hauser's back was broken and from the time of the accident he had been partly paralyzed. He was brought immediately to the Deaconess hospital, where he remained until March 30, when he was removed to his home. An X-ray photograph revealed a fracture of the vertebrae, but the spinal cord was not severed. His condition remained hopeful for a time and when he was removed to his home there was a possibility of recovery, in the opinion of physicians altho the possibility was slight. A consultation was held and it was decided an operation was unnecessary and a specialist, who later visited the patient, confirmed this opinion. The past week, however, Hauser's condition had been critical and all hope of improvement was abandoned several days ago. Elias Willard Hauser was born Dec. 15, 1875, on a farm three and a half miles southwest of Liscomb, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hauser. He had lived in the same neighborhood all his life. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Boyd, at Liscomb, Sept. 10, 1901. His parents, his widow and seven children survive him. The latter are James M., Willard G., Elizabeth A., Carrol K., Ronald W., George M., and Mirriam Lorraine, all living at home. Three sisters also survive in the persons of Mrs. Theodore Furland, Conrad; Mrs. A. G. Nyce, Burdette, and Mrs. B. F. Nugent, Liscomb. Mr. Hauser had been a member of the Church of Christ at Bethel Grove since he was 12 years old. The funeral will be held at Bethel Grove Church at 1 o'clock Thursday. Burial will be in the Liscomb cemetery.
