Area Native Dies At 108

E. Roxa Nyce, a rural Albion native believed to be the oldest woman in the state, died Saturday at the age of 108, at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. She was born Oct. 28, 1877, in rural Albion, the daughter of George and Ann Ketchum Hauser. She was educated in country schools in Marshall County and studied piano. On April 6, 1902, in Liscomb, she was married to Arthur George Nyce. They farmed in Marshall and later Franklin Counties, and she taught piano. Mrs. Nyce was a member of the First Christian Church of Iowa Falls and the Prairie View Club. She was preceded in death by her husband in the 1940s, a brother and two sisters. Surviving is a daughter, E. Wilma Nyce of Iowa Falls, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the First Christian Church in Iowa Falls with burial in the Liscomb Cemetery. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. This Monday at Linn's Funeral Home in Iowa Falls and one hour before service time at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
