ELIJAH L. STARK, 75, LONG ILL, IS DEAD; RITES SET FRIDAY

Elijah L. STARK, 75, of 504 North Second avenue, died at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday at Evangelical Deaconess hospital. He had been in falling health for three years. Death was of heart disease. Elijah Ludwick STARK was born Aug. 23, 1872 in Jasper county the son of James and Hester Ludwick STARK. He spent the greater part of his life southwest of Gilman.

On Feb. 10, 1897 he married Isadora STRICKLAND. They moved here 29 years ago.

Mr. STARK was employed by the Northwestern Lumber company and later worked in furniture stores here. For 14 years he operated the elevator in the Masonic temple.

Mr. STARK was an active member of the First Methodist church. He was a member of Marshall lodge No. 108 A.F. & A.M., Signet chapter No. 38, R.A.M., King Solomon council No. 20 R. & S.M. St. Aldemar commandery No. 30 Knights Templar, and Central chapter No. 67, O.E.S.

Surviving besides the widow are a daughter, Mrs. Frank JENKINS of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Clarence STARK of California, and a sister, Mrs. M.J. MORGART of near Grinnell. Three grandchildren also survive.

Services will be at the Estel funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday by Rev. Arthur J. Kindred. Burial will be in the family lot in the Gilman cemetery.
