MRS. POWELL SURVIVES HUSBAND FIVE MONTHS

Mrs. Clara B. Powell, 118 North Center street passed away at 1:30 o'clock this morning at her home, after a brief illness, surviving her husband, the late E.H. Powell, little more than five months. Mrs. Powell was ill but a few hours.

Clara B. Norris was born in Poweshiek county, Sept. 6, 1860, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Norris. She came to Marshalltown about thirty years ago.

She was married in this city to E.H. Powell, April 6, 1898. Mr. Powell died in August, 1932.

Mrs. Powell is survived by two daughters by a former marriage, Mrs. E.G. Mahoney, of State Center, and Mrs. George Douglas, of Spokane, Wash.; her aged mother, Mrs. Jane Connor, of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Mrs. L. Gilbreth (Anna L. Gilbreaith), Montezuma, and Mrs. Mae Graham, Cedar Falls; five brothers, Ed Norris, city; Elzy and Gene Norris, Grinnell; Jake Norris, Brooklyn and Elver Norris, Montezuma; a half-brother, Will Connor, Hampton; four granddaughters, four grandsons, three great grandsons and three great granddaughters.

She was a member of the Methodist church and of the W.C.T.U.

The body will be at the Wallace funeral home until plans are completed for the funeral services.
