Mrs. Ida Weatherly Dies At Rock Rapids

Liscomb --- (Special) --- Word was received here by relatives Tuesday night of the death at Rock Rapids of Mrs. Ida Weatherly, a former Liscomb woman, who had been in poor health for several years. Death was due to heart disease and complications. Mrs. Weatherly, who was about 78 years of age, was the eldest of five children in the family of the late James C. and Mary Gately Meyers, pioneer settlers of Liscomb. Two of the family, Mrs. Eva Alexander of Sac City and Frank L. Meyers of Artesia, Calif., survive. A sister, Mrs. Nettie Biersborn, and a brother, William B. Meyers, preceded her in death. Mrs. Weatherly was born in Liscomb and grew to womanhood here. She was married to Foster Weatherly, who also came from a pioneer family. Mr. Weatherly died several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Weatherly lived for years on farms in the Liscomb neighborhood and then moved to Rock Rapids. Mrs. Weatherly was the mother of six children, two of whom, Paul and Merle, are dead. Those surviving are Mrs. Nettie McCaughey, Rock Rapids; Bruce Weatherly, Rock Rapids; Frank Weatherly, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Genevieve Brush, Seattle, Wash. She was one of the members of the old Jennings class and a member of the Christian church at Liscomb. The body will be brought to Liscomb for burial, but not word has been received as yet as to the time of the rites.

Pioneer Lyon County Woman Dies at Home Here on Tuesday

Mrs. Ida Weatherly, a resident of Lyon county for more than a half century, died at the home of her son Bruce, here on Tuesday of this week, at the age of 78. Funeral services for Mrs. Weatherly will be held today (Thursday) at the Church of Christ, of which she had long been an active member, and the body will be taken to Liscomb for burial. Services are at 2 p.m.

Pioneer Woman Dies After Long Period of Ill Health

Funeral services were held here Tuesday for Mrs. Ida Weatherly, a pioneer resident of this community, who died Tuesday, December 11, after a long period of ill health. Following the service held in the Church of Christ here, with Rev. J. C. Utterback in charge, the body was taken to Liscomb, Iowa, where burial was made. Mrs. Weatherly, who was 78 years of age at the time of her death, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Meyers, and was born in Marshall County, Iowa, on September 14, 1867. On December 4, 1889, she was married F. C. Weatherly, and seven children were born to the union, four of whom survive. The Weatherly family came to Lyon county in 1903, and Mrs. Weatherly continued to make her home here until the time of her death, which occurred at the home of her son, Bruce. Mr. Weatherly died in 1919. Surviving are her daughters, Genevieve Brush of Seattle, Wash., and Nellie McCaughey of this place; her sons, Bruce of Rock Rapids, and Frank of Champaign, Ill. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Eva Alexander of Sac City, Iowa, and by one brother, Frank Meyers of Artesia, Calif.
