Old Resident of Liscomb Passes Away as Result of Pneumonia

Richard A. Gately, an old resident of the Liscomb neighborhood, died at his home one and one-half miles southwest of Liscomb, at 5 o'clock Sunday morning after a two weeks' illness of pneumonia. Mr. Gately was a native of Charleston, Ill., where he was born Sept. 15, 1838. He was united in marriage with Miss Mallisa A. Weatherly, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Weatherly, Feb. 10, 1878. Mrs. Gately survives her husband, and of the eight children born to the couple seven are living, in the persons of Ray, John, and George Gately and Mrs. J. A. Egerton, or Rock Rapids; Mrs. C. M. Dent, of Wyoming; Mrs. James Botts, of Wilmot, Minn.; and Miss Beatrice, who lives at home. A son Floyd died seven years ago. One sister, Mrs. Julia Speicher, of the soldiers' home, this city; and two brothers, Luther M. and Joseph H. Gately, of Colorado, are living, as are also three half sisters, Mesdames Elmyra Westphal and Ellen Jackson, of Los Angeles; and Jennie Tipton, of Colorado Springs. Mrs. Delashmutt, of Los Angeles, Mr. Gately's stepmother, lives at Los Angeles. She will be 91 years old in February. Funeral services will be held from the family home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. George Biersborn. Burial will be in the Liscomb cemetery.
