Dayle Wall Dies Thursday at 65

Dayle E. Wall, 65, 511 S. 9th St., died Thursday at his home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Pursel-Davis Chapel, the Rev. Philip King in charge. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour with flag presentation by the VFW.

He was born August 5, 1920, in Montour, the son of Irven & Gertrude M. Smith Wall. He spent his early life in Marshall County and later was graduated from high school in Forest Grove, Oregon.

He was married to Gwendolyn Adkins, June 8, 1940, in Lancaster, Missouri. She preceded him in death November 24, 1985.

He is survived by 3 sons, Gary Wall, Laurel; Jim Wall and Tom Wall, both of Marshalltown; a sister, Mrs. Mary Sloan, Poway, California; his stepmother, Mrs. Gladys Wall, Burlington, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.

A veteran of World War II, he had served in the U.S. Army during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Harry C. Harter Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He spent most of his life in the Marshalltown area. He was a tool grinder and cutter, employed by Fisher Controls and at Kiowa Corporation. He also owned Dayle’s Grinding.

Friends may call at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Saturday.

Dayle Wall Rites Conducted Monday

Services for Dayle E. Wall, 511 S. 9th St., who died Thursday at his home, were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Phillip King, First Friends Church, officiating. Burial followed in Maple Hill Cemetery, Montour.

A flag presentation was made by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Harry C. Harter Post 839.

Honorary bearers were Dan Shepler and Scott Shepler. Bearers were Bob Wall; Kenny Wall; Fran Matney; George Bell; Floyd Woods and Dennis Peshel.

Groups were in attendance from VFW, Fisher Controls and Anderson Distributing.
