FRED BAUM DIES AT 77; RITES MONDAY

Fred E. Baum, 77, 113 N. 15th St., a resident of Marshalltown since 1945, died at his home Thursday evening. He was born in Marshall County Jan. 10, 1885, son of Theron S. and Marg Harding Baum, and was married April 2, 1919 to Mrs. Ellen R. Peters.

Surviving are two children and three stepchildren. They are Robert Baum of Union and Miss Mary H. Baum, Lawrence Peters, Mrs. John Gravitt and Mrs. Russell Peterson, all of Marshalltown. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1959, and two children in infancy.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pursel-Davis Memorial Chapel with the Rev. L.T. Proctor in charge. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Baum was a birthright member of the Hicksite Friends Church. He was reared in the Minerva area and farmed west of Hartland for 46 years, later moving to the Albion community. After coming to Marshalltown he was employed by the Midwest Floral Company until his retirement in 1960.
