Harvey Petermeier, 91
Melbourne Harvey Petermeier, 91 of Melbourne died Saturday Jan. 15, 2000, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Melbourne Cemetery with the Rev. Linda Schmidt officiating. Flag folding honors will be by the Hauser Diggins Post 161 American Legion. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 18 at Estel Perrin Avey Funeral Home, where the family will be present to greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
He was born on Jan. 12, 1909, in Melbourne the son of August and Mathilda (Gauch) Petermeier. He was raised and educated in Melbourne, graduated from high school there in 1928. he served in the Army Air Corps in India during World War ll.
He married Linda Harders Landt on Nov. 29, 1952. He farmed the family farm 2 1/2 miles southeast of Melbourne until semi-retiring in 1959 and fully retiring in 1980.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Melbourne and the Hauser Diggins Post No. 161 of the American Legion.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mary Landt Allen (Mrs. Jim) of Melbourne; and a grandson Jerry (Stephanie) Landt of Melbourne; a grand daughter, Bev Landt-Rider (Mrs. Tom) of Marshalltown; and two great grandchildren, Barry Landt-Rider and Jordan Landt-Rider, both of Marshalltown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, in December of 1984; his parents; step-son, Larry Landt; three sisters, Irene Dreyer, Myrtle Nason and Carolyn Hinegardner; and two brothers, Harry and Raymond Petermeier.
