Majel L. Eilers,80, of Gladbrook, died July 13, 2005, at Westbrook in the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Gladbrook United Methodist Church, with Rev. Roger White officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call at the Geottsch Perrin Funeral Home Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. with the family present at this time. There also be an Order of Eastern Star Vona Dea Chapter #175 of Traer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home Friday. A memorial fund is being established.
She was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Melbourne, Iowa, the daughter of Walter D. and Myrtle (Wilsterman) Osten. She was raised and educated in Melbourne and Gladbrook, graduating from Gladbrook High School in 1942. On July 12, 1946, at the Evangelical and Reformed Peace Church Parsonage in Gladbrook, she was united in marriage to Elmer O. Eilers and they resided in Gladbrook. She was employed at Davenport Grocery in Gladbrook prior to her marriage.
Majel was a member of the Eastern Star since 1946 (69 years) and treasurer for 41 years, a member of Gladbrook United Methodist Church where she served on the lunch committee for many years, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer of Gladbrook; daughter June (Richard) Kleinfelter of Fayette, sons John Eilers of Lincoln, Paul (Diane) Eilers of rural Toledo and Gerald (Marcia) Eilers of Redfield; grandchildren Rebecca, Bryan, Stephen, Cassandra and Thaddeus; great grandchildren Alyssabeth and Madison; and a brother Dale Osten of Gladbrook.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Mary Ann in infancy.
