Mrs. Elizabeth Mills Passes at Soldiers' Home

Mrs. Elizabeth Mills, a resident of Marshall County since 1850, died at 9:30 Sunday night at the soldiers home hospital of a complication of diseases.

Mrs. Mills had been in poor health since early in January. Seven weeks ago she was brought to St. Thomas hospital from the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. A. R. Akins, a mile south of Green Mountain; was later taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Luncinda Stackhouse, and then was removedto the home hospital.

Mrs. Mills was born Elizabeth Bowles in Ohio, Feb. 18, 1842. At the age of eight she was brought to Iowa by her parents in a covered wagon. The family settled in Marshall County and she had since made her home here. She was married to Lott Mills in 1868 in the old stone church which stood two miles south of the site of the present Iowa River Church.

Mr. Mills, who was a veteran of the civil war, died in 1915. Eleven children were born to Mr and Mrs. Mills,four of whom are living. They are Mrs. A. E. Nelson, Mrs. Luncinda Stackhouse, and Mrs. Charles Koester, all of this city, and Mrs. Herman Stout of Noeksack, Wash. Mrs. Mills is also survived by three brothers, James Bowles of the state of Washington, Jack Bowles, Pipestone, Minn, and John Bowles of Colorado, and a sister, Mrs A Adams of Washinton, Col. Twenty-eight grandchildren and theityseven great grandchildren also survivie.

Mrs. Mills was a member of the Iowa River Church. Arrangements for the funeral had not been made early today.
