Norman B. Weeces, 75, of Marshalltown, formerly of Des Moines, died on Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Monteith Memorial Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Central Christian Church or the Marshalltown Senior Citizen Center. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Norman and his family. Ph. 641-844-1234 Born on October 2, 1932, at Osmond, Nebraska, he was the son of Earle W. and Mina (Ireland) Weeces. He received his education in Osmond where he graduated in 1952. Norman moved to Des Moines in 1953. He married Nancy Jane Mains on March 12, 1961, at the 1st Christian Church in Des Moines. Nancy Jane died in 1985. Norman was employed at Iowa Methodist Medical Center for over 35 years, retiring in 1994. He moved to Marshalltown in 1998. Norman was a member of Central Christian Church and the Marshalltown Senior Citizens Center. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Leila Sawtelle; nieces Sherry(Kevin) Horner and Linda Vermaas; nephews James(Jana) Sawtelle, Wayne(Annette) Sawtelle, Gary Weeces, Stephen Weeces, Robert Weeces, and R.C.”Chip” Weeces; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friend Olive Aman of Grandview Heights in Marshalltown. In death, he has rejoined his wife, parents, and three brothers.
