Bill Moore, 67, of 2405 “B” Avenue, Garwin, died Wednesday evening, February 22nd, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. His death came peacefully with his family at his side.
Funeral services and a celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, February 27th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, 1209 Iowa Ave. W., Marshalltown with Rev. Harry Wach of the Garwin Methodist Church officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may be directed to his family. Following interment, there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments at the hospitality room of the funeral home. Born William “Bill” Harold Moore on May 29th, 1938, on the family farm near Glendon, Iowa, he was one of 14 children born to Ed and Martha (Bancroft) Moore. He received his education in the area of his birth.
Bill did construction, welding, worked at Swift’s Greenhouses and co-managed the Marshalltown Farmer’s Market at the pavilion on North 2nd Ave. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting and his family.
Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife Virginia Adair Kellogg Moore whom he married on September 13th, 1980 at the Garwin Christian Church, his four children; David Moore in Denver, CO., Debbie Grubich in Iowa, Bill (Peggy) Moore, Jr. of Conrad and Mary Ann (Mike) Birke of Grundy Center, step-children Brenda (Jeff) Davis of Marshalltown and Scott (Kristi) Kellogg of LeGrand, 12 grandchildren, his siblings: Mary (Milt) Belzer of Buckeye, AZ., George (Nancy) Moore of Panora, Iowa, John (Liz) Moore of Stuart, IA, Tom (Jan) Moore of Cedar Rapids, Donnie (Lori) Moore of Stuart, Iowa, Mike (Carol) Moore of Menlo, Iowa, Jim (Cathy) Moore of Casey, Iowa, Joe (Glenda) Moore of Stuart, Iowa, Ellen (Dave) Foster of Norwalk, CA., Christine (Greg) Miller of Denver, CO., and Margaret (Ray) Gandy of San Gabriel, CA., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
In death he has rejoined his parents, son Donald, step-son Curt Kellogg, brother Carl Moore and sister Della Rhodes.
