ROZELL, TROFIMCHUCK, ERICSON, ERKS AND SERVICE

Richard Rozell, 64, of 1511 South 2nd Avenue, died early Thursday morning, February 23rd, at his home while in care of his family and the Iowa River Hospice. His death came peacefully at 2:40 a.m. with family at his side.
Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 27th, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Gregg Davison officiating. Following cremation rites, he will be laid to rest in the Riverside Mausoleum at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 28th. Friends may call at the Trinity Lutheran Church from 4-8:00 p.m. on Sunday with his family present from 5-8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed in his memory to MCC, Trinity Lutheran Church or the Iowa River Hospice. Born on July 24th, 1941, in Akron, Iowa, he was the son of Arden and Gladys (Heyl) Rozell. He graduated from the Akron High School, Wayne State in Nebraska and received his Masters Degree from Kansas State University.
On May 30th, 1964, he was united in marriage to Diane Ericson in Alcester, South Dakota. They made their home in Pierce, Nebraska until moving to Marshalltown in 1969 where Rich taught high school mathematics at the Marshalltown High School until retirement. He was a proud supporter of the Bobcats and was recipient of the MHS Wall of Fame during the February 17th game at the roundhouse. Mr. Rozell was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Retired Teachers and an MCC Tiger Parent will be fondly remembered for his passion of teaching, MHS and MCC, woodworking, Kansas State, his 100% positive attitude and love for his family.
Left to celebrate his life are his three children: Jana (Matt) Trofimchuck of Coal City, IL., Matt (Rachel) Rozell of Marshalltown and Jay (Christy) Rozell of Topeka, Kansas, five precious grandchildren: Matthew and Amanda Trofimchuck, Tyler and Hailey Rozell and Madalyn Rozell, his mother-in-law Lyda Ericson of the Villa del Sol in Marshalltown, sisters Kathleen (Gene) Erks of Akron, Iowa, and Sharon Service of Sioux City, Iowa, Diane’s family, fellow colleagues and a host of friends.
In death he has rejoined his parents and his beloved wife, Diane who died July 23rd, of last year.
