I found the following listing in the 1880 Washington Twp, Marion Co, IA, census:
James P. Foster, widower, age 55 born KY, parents born KY
Mary O. Foster, dau, age 19, b IA, parents born KY
James B. Foster, son, age 13, b IA, parents born KY.

There is no James P. Foster family in Marion Co. in 1870, though there is a J. B. Foster (age 38, b IN) with wife E. (age 40, b KY). In 1870 there is also a D.C. Foster (David in the 1880 census), and an Ira Foster. These families don't have a child Mary or female M. the right age.
