Do you know if any of your ancestors moved to the original 13 colonies, specifically Virginia around 1750 and beyond. Sometimes a slave living on a plantation will take as the last name the name of the plantation owner. If your ancestors had a plantation in Albemarle or surrounding counties in Virginia, it is quite possable then that my Reasby's worked on a plantation who's owners name was Reesby.
I hope you can shed some light on this for us.
My Reasby line is of African American descent. I have an 1880 census that shows a Lewis Reasby who married a Martha Swann, and had several children in Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia.
