The following information was located while doing Civil War research and is posted here for use by genealogists and historians in your area.:

Company I, 33rd Iowa Volunteer Infantry.

Funk, William P. Age 18. Residence Knoxville, nativity Indiana. Enlisted August 9, 1862. Mustered September 11, 1862. Fatally wounded April 10, 1864 at the Battle of Prairie D'Ane, AR. Died April 12, 1864. Buried at the Battle of Gum Grove Cemetery, Nevada Co., AR.

This information has been validated with official unit rosters and cemetery records.

I am not related to this soldier and can provide no other information. Thanks!
