RE: Jacob M. Zwart/Swart son of Meinert Zwart/Swart and Beertje VandeHoef in Marion Co. Iowa.

In the 1880 census they were living in Mahaska Co., Iowa and Jacob M. was listed as being 6 years old. In a 1885 census they were living in Sioux Co. Iowa and Jacob M. was listed as being 10 years old (these two censuses would put his birthdate at about 1874 or 1875).I believe the 1885 census stated he was born in Marion County Iowa. In the 1900 census, Jacob was listed as a carpenter livingn in Oklahoma with his parents. They all moved back to Iowa shortly after the 1900 census and Meinert remarried in about 1904. In Meinert's will (dated 1904) he left something to his son, "Jacob of Perry, Oklahoma". I have found on the 1910 census in Noble Co., Oklahoma a "Matthew Jacob Swart" in Perry Oklahoma who is listed as being 35 years old (so born about 1875), born in Iowa and a carpenter. I'm not sure this is the same person I'm looking for. I've gathered that Jacob and his father had a strained relationship, so I thought maybe he changed his middle name to his first name and changed the spelling of his last name from Zwart to Swart. I had a post on rootsweb message board wanting to know about Jacob's birth. I received a response similar to this:

""If anyone else answers this, they will probably tell you that Iowa doesn't have birth's until 1880....however....I found a great aunt's birth in a birth book at the Marion County Courthouse...she was born in 1876...the thing was....they had her birth (and several others) listed in the back of the book where they usually put stillbirths....but that had been crossed out and "regular" births had been put there""
I've tried contacting his person again that replied to me, but to no avail.

Is there anyone in Marion County that can check on this for me??
