My grandfather, Homer Bell, worked on the "extra board" on the Rock Island Rail Road between Mitchellville, IA and Pella, IA. On his daughter's deathbed, she shared that he deserted his family because he fathered a child outside the family. The child would have been born between late 1927 and early 1929. The family members involved on our end of the search are deceased. The child would be around 80 years old today.
