Mary Jane Mick was born on May 9, 1918, in Albia to Ralph Barnhill and Ethel (Turner) Barnhill. She was raised in Albia and graduated with the Class of 1936. Following graduation, Mary worked as a secretary for a law firm in Albia.

On May 9, 1941, she married E. Raymond Mick in Albia. That same month the couple moved to Knoxville. Mary worked in her husband's business as a legal secretary and an abstractor for 20 years before she retired. Mary was very dedicated and efficient, and she and Raymond complemented each other well in the business.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Knoxville.

Mary died on July 25, at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 87.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Ernest, Roy and Glenn and one sister, Vera.

Survivors include her husband, E. Raymond; three sons, James (Birgitta) of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, Thomas (Graciela) of Evergreen, Colo. and William (Elaine) of Topeka, Kan.; a sister, Mildred Gollaher of Ottumwa; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services were held July 29 with Minister Dale Blanshan officiating. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or to Hospice of Central Iowa.
