Mason, Dale Melvin 1918-2005

Dale Melvin Mason was born on April 26, 1918, in Melcher. He was one of four sons born to Julia Cobble and Crabel Thomas Levi Mason. Dale graduated from Melcher High School in 1936.

Dale was united in marriage to Mildred Geneva Richards on March 17, 1940. They had three children. Dale loved farming especially working with the livestock. He raised milk cows for many years using the extra milk for the hogs he fed. When the children were young, Dale was active in 4-H. Dale also worked fulltime for 26 years at Maytag Company, retiring in 1980. After retiring, Dale and Mildred moved to Knoxville where Dale became active in the local Lions Club. He always had a story or joke to share with everyone he met. The family has many happy memories of their years with Dale.

Dale Melvin Mason died July 21 at his home in Knoxville at the age of 87.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mildred Mason of Knoxville; one daughter and her husband, Janet and Larry Mohler of Knoxville; two sons and their wives, Jim and Linda Mason of Iowa Falls and Gary and Rosemary Mason of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday. July 26, with Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Memorials in memory of Dale Mason may be given to Christ's Church or the Knoxville Lions Club.
