Kathryn Nichols was born on Sept. 24, 1924, in Marion County to Peter Breen and Freida (Marinus) Breen. She was raised in the Pella area.

On Dec. 23, 1947, she married Carroll Eugene Nichols, Sr. They had three children. The couple always made their home in Knoxville. She loved her home and was blessed with many wonderful years there until moving to the nursing home last November.

She was a member of the Church of God.

Kathryn died on July 26 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 80.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll; 2 brothers, and 1 sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Ward (Ted) and Linda Rae Bolinger both of Knoxville; a son, Carroll Eugene Nichols, Jr. (Denise) of Pleasantville, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services were held July 29 with Pastor Raymond Bettis officiating. Interment was at Ruckman Cemetery in rural Marion County.
