Mrs. Sallie M. Jeffers, an old time resident of Indiana township, near Attica, a cousin of Thomas Jeffers, of Knoxville, died at her home in East Des Moines township, Mahaska county, on Thursday, August 16, 1917, aged 72 years 8 months, 19 days. Death resulted from cancer, after a sickness of three years.

Deceased was born in Indiana but had been a resident of Marion and Mahaska counties ever since she was a child four years old. She was a faithful member of the M.E. Church--a good woman, highly respected by all. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Mary Jones, of Des Moines, and two brothers, B.W. and M.D. Jeffers

The funeral services were held at the Indiana Chapel, near Attica, Sunday, August 19. Burial in Indiana Chapel cemetery.
