Bussey Banner: John W. Locke died at his home in "Jonnycake" on Friday, Aug. 12, 1902, after an illness since the middle of June last, from heart and lung trouble and dropsy.

John W. Locke was born in Orange county, Indiana, May 31, 1846-- being 56 years, 2 months and 16 days old at the time of his death. He came to Iowa with his parents when three years of age, and has lived in this state ever since, except sixteen years in Kansas, between 1883 and 1899. He was married in Pratt county, Kansas, March 1, 1890, to Miss Pauline Readlet, who with two living children, a son, William, ten years old, and Louie, a daughter two years old, still survives him, two children born to them having died in infancy. Mr. Locke experienced religion a short time before his death and died happy and glad to go to meet his savior.

The funeral occurred Saturday afternoon, the remains being conveyed to the Bridges cemetery, northeast of Attica, for burial.
